MOTC holds a National Workshop for Maritime labour convention 2006
Represented by The Directorate General of Maritime affairs, The Ministry Of Transport and Communication held today a National workshop for Maritime labour convention 2006 in coordination with Ministry of Manpower and The international Labour Organization (ILO).The event will be for 5 days starting from 25th February to 1st of March. The workshop was held under the Auspices of His Excellency Dr.Yahya Bin Naseer Al-Khusaibi, Undersecretary to the Ministry of legal affairs.
 
 
This workshop showcases the Convention requirements to the local specialists as a preparation for Enlisting Oman to this convention .30 participants hailing from various concerned local authorities  such as ports companies ,sea transport companies ,The General Federation of Oman Trade Union, ships owners and a number of Omani seafarers.
 
 
The workshop saw many sessions   presented by representatives from ILO and specialists from MOTC which introduced the requirements and conditions for the job of seafarers onboard vessels ,seafarers work contracts, seafarers rights onboard ships in accordance to the convention. It has also discussed the alignment requirements for the local legislation in accordance to the recent development on the convention.
